Hey Everyone! I was just looking around for some old MCO files on the web and took notice to some of the old videos which lead me to believe that not all of us back on MCO were running Monster Machines with resources to spare while gaming.

Anywho! I thought i would start this thread to let us all know what you may have been running all those years ago, and what you are currently or aspire to be running :P

Then - As for myself I was very computer illiterate, for the most part anyway, and from the day I began playing MCO i was stuck on a Pentium 75-100 boasting poor on-board graphics, 32mgs Ram and no extras... plain jane :/ lmao

After splurging on myself and letting a few bills slide, I soon found a way to eat Kraft Dinner for a month... i mean, found a way to sink 2000$ in one month on a brand new desktop hahahaha

Now - 24" LG LCD Flatron / Mobo - Gigabyte EP45-UD3R incl. RealTek onboard Sound / Intel COre 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHz (o/c'ed 3.8GHz) / Corsair 2 x 2G DDR2 333Hz / Corsair 750watt Power Supply / nVidia BFG GTX295 1792MB GDDR3 / 200 watt Philips 2.1 Sound / Scythe Ninja 2 RevB CPU Cooler SCNJ-2100

This time around im hoping to destroy the benchmark! :D

What have you got under the hood?

I think when MCO was alive I had an AMD 233 with perhaps 16, or 32 MB ram, a Viper (550 I think) video card, Ensoniq Soundscape Elite sound card, and a 17" MAG monitor.

I now have an Nforce 4 based mainboard with an Athlon 64 X2 4400+ cpu, Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT video card, 4 GB ram, two Samsung SyncMaster 205BW flat panel monitors, Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS soundcard, and an Altec Lansing 5.1 speaker system.

It's a bit outdated now, but it still gets the job done quite nicely.

heh all I remember is that it WASN'T ENOUGH!! I had poor graphics, lower end computer, and freakin' dialup that topped out at something pathetic like 28k.
I'll do better now with a pentium dual quad 2.4 and 3 gb of ram, ati hd3650 video card.
edit: AND now I have high speed internet to boot... yahtzee!

28k is ver ver bad... :P lol I shouldnt be talking though, i connected at 14.4 and THAT made it so tough to drag consistently :'( Hell, i had a rocketstang at one point, lost it in a pinks race to a fella and he gave it back to me after using it. He said it was so much faster than his own and it was a shame i never got to use it to its full potential.

I don't remember what I had at the time... my timeline is fuzzy on the computers. I think at that point I had a:
Pentium 3 550mhz
16mb Voodoo 3 3000
320mb PC133 SD-RAM
Probably 40 to 80 gigs of HD space
At some point, I upgraded that computer part by part til I had an AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 512mb DDR, and a GeForce 3, but I don't know what parts were in it during MCO's time. I know I only had crappy dial-up and could never connect past about 38-40k.

What I have now:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4ghz dual-core)
eVGA 768mb GeForce 8800GTX
2x1gig 800mhz DDR2
2 HD's totaling ~1,400 GB of space
DSL 1.5mb/256k broadband connection

So yea, significant change in speed there.

Hey guys.. Back then i was running an AMD 1800+, 512M ram, Geforce4 mx440, 40G and 2 20G in Raid0, 128K DSL.. Im in NZ and ping was around 100-150 to uptown pacific...

I pretty much just ran the standard graphics settings was having so much fun with the game that i never bothered changing it, although i could have maxed it out and my screenshots would look much better now...

This current machine is a n AMD X2 6000, Radeon 4850, 2g ram, 2x640G in raid0. And the worlds shittest mainboard its a winfast k8m890 little micro thing with this massive heatsink and graphics card sticking out, im sure the passively cooled northbridge is going to catch fire one day. Anyway its due for an upgrade ill go back to using full size mainbaords with more features than i ever use...

Peace Out...
