Has anyone else heard of/seen the game called Crash Day?
I hadn't heard of it until I was going through some Test Drive Unlimited forums looking for modding tools and I came across a discussion about taking TDU cars and importing into this game.
Crash Day Web Site (http://www.atari.com/crashday/)
I'm downloading the demo right now to give it a try, but it sort of reminds me of that old game Stunts, or Trackmania Nations, and it seems to have an SDK freely available for modding the game. I don't know how good the racing is in it, but if it seems pretty good, maybe we can get some muscle cars imported and get a few people together for some racing :)
From the videos on the site the damage model looks really awesome! It even looks like the frames of the cars twist! Demo derby anyone :P

Also on another note, does anyone have any photos or documentation that somehow illustrates the layout of any of the MCO tracks?
I would LOVE to make some MCO tracks for this game if I can. (Assuming the game is at all decent)

That crashday looks pretty cool. Reminds me of the ole Carmageddon days. Let me know if the demo is worth downloading. Ive gotta get in gear and get a wheel bought.

Only a few mb to go.........
From the site it looks pretty cool, there's the normal race mode, there's a 'capture the flag' type mode, there's a pass the bomb (think hot potato) mode, theres a bomb run mode (kind of like the movie speed, you have to stay above a certain speed or you explode), stunt mode, test drive mode, and sort of demolition mode where your cars have guns on them and you try to destroy your opponent by crashing into them or shooting them.
The SDK actually allows you to import cars, make tracks, make track pieces, and alter physics and all kinds of stuff. It could be a whole lot of fun!

So any word yet on how the gameplay is? I know it wont be a "build your car and race it" kinda game, but looks good to wreck up some stuff, and shoot other peeps in a car kinda game.

Yeah, here's my update:
To start with the demo crapped out downloading at about 98% or so, so instead of downloading it all again I..........*cough*borrowed*cough* a full copy of it to try out.
My first complaint is the screen resolution presets. I use a laptop as my primary pc/gaming rig and the game doesnt support anywhere NEAR the resolution, so the game looks like pure crap on it. Not only that but over half the resolutions are really oddball backwards ones. Like 600 wide x 800 tall, etc which really doesnt make much sense to me.
Aside from that, its pretty neat. Obviously its arcade style racing, in the career mode though there are performance/visual upgrades, but its pretty limited as to what you can actually do.
The track editor looks pretty easy to use, so it could be feasible to recreate an MCO track or two to some degree at least.
I havnt grabbed the SDK yet, but from what Ive read you can alter the physics in the game, so it may be possible to make the handling a little more realistic. It was a game that was designed to be modded, so the limitations are few I would say.
I still can't believe I just found out about this game, considering it was released over a year ago.
I've yet to try multiplayer out, but I'll post some more details later when I mess around some more with it.
A year ago? Crash Day is pretty old lol like 2005 old. It just took them a very long time to pick up a publisher and was released sometime in February of 06. Pretty neat game for what it is, multiplayer is a little odd. But neat.
STUNTS... now that was were I spent most of my child hood. Man I LOVED that game.

lol my bad, going on 2 hours of sleep, I thought we were in 2007....
Yeah stunts was great, my bros and I used to play it all the time.
Have you tried Trackmania Nations Ken? Or any trackmania games for that matter....
Trackmania Nations, no but I just did a google, that looks pretty dang neat! Seen some crazy videos on youtube with like 400 cars on screen at once... insanely powerful graphics engine if you ask me.

If you loved stunts I'm sure you would love Nations. Its completely free too which is cool. The tracks that people race online are insane, you're travelling REALLY fast, and usually there are numerous routes you can take, most of them are 'trick' paths so you have to corner hard and fast and make a really long jump or you end up way back on the track. And they're all user made, the creativity floors me a lot of the time.
I did a lot of texture editing/3d work and engine sound manipulation when I played it. Had a Carrera GT that I graced the tracks with :)
It takes some practice to get used to it, but if you want an adrenaline rush I say try it out!
