Anyone in maryland (montgomery co) have a car seat (not a baby seat -- try telling that to google) they'd be willing to part with for a few bucks?

Figured I'd ask before I spend the weekend in junkyards browsing around.

I'd be using it for a racing cockpit (already ordered wheel/pedals, have the shifter, and waiting on an extra goodie: trackir).

I need the seat before I get the cockpit, since I need to determine spacing of the rails for the semi-custom cockpit.

I guess it depends on what you got (the gauges)
Newer cars use electric engines for the speedometers while older models use cable.
Iv never seen those nationwide car gauges but i bet itīs cable right?!

The cable speedometer could still do the job if you attach it to a 12volt electrical engine.

The biggest issue would be to get the accurate information from the game and transfer that to the gauges.
And it would be possible, but the games would have to have specific support.
Hehe!
You donīt need a electrical engineer you need a software engineer ;]

Unless it doesnīt have to be the real information, in that case it would be pretty easy to do.

And just in case you were wondering, yes, im building something here too
heh!

the tach i have is electrical...i have the software (thanks to gcountach for the find) i have the whole gauges granted fuel pressure, and oil pressure will not work, but battery voltage should. I need a digrahm so I could know what microcontroller and and ne other parts to put on a bread board...and try and get a usb adapter to run it all...there are a group of kids that sell a thing called nerd kits that might be of help but I havent seen any thing about what I have.

also if going to purchase Track-ir you might want to check this out it might save you about $100.00.http://www.free-track.net/english/ and if you guys are building these cockpit rigs what game are you running?

I donīt know, this thread seems apropriated since weīre all after the same thing.
Unless Wraith get mad at us.
The best way to get a seat is on the junkyard tough.
I bought a Charger seat for 10 bucks!
No serious rips and such, just needed some cleaning.

Whatīs the name of the software you got there??
Is it open source?
Thereīs should be some guidelines and recomendations from the developer.
The way i know, it would be easier to send those informations via game port.
And im kinda not sure if the usb could provide enough voltage for the speedometer wich is provably 12 volts?

But thatīs still not a problem considering you could still power it externally with a ac adaptor.
I guess the most important thing is the software anyway.

I mainly run ARCA SIM RACING in a league (elitesimracing.com) and do mods for like rfactor like sbs modifieds, sbs late models and dirtfactor. I main reason I want a cockpit is because I have a g25 and it is taking up my keyboard tray and a g25 is a pain in the ass to take off and put back on and im always using my wheel atleast once a day. I was going to buy an obutto cockpit but my dad said hed build me one.

Taigo when I get home ill look up the program i think i still have it saved in my favorites. unless gcountach gets up and posts it before I do.

don't have ARCA but id run rfactor lots of mods I've got a rfactor server if anyone ever wants to run,as for the G25 I know what you mean it can be a pain. as for a seat Taigo is right check the junkyard look for a ricer if you want something a little more racy if you want comfort find a caddy seat.

http://www.sim-tools.de/

That is the site it might work for ARCA because ARCA is based off the ISI engine which rfactor uses.

That's what I figured, and that's the path I'm probably going to take this weekend.

a decent light seat would be from the old feiro ( pontiac)adjustable for tilt and so on plus head rest has a couple speakers in it on each side wich could be adapted to your souround sound system
