Good luck.
NFS Carbon is a pretty good game, Pro Street was pretty dissapointing. Forza 2 is a great game too.
If we could have found a good replacement for MCO we wouldn't be making MWO. lol But heck if anyone finds something don't hesitate to let us know!

I have searched the interwebs far and wide for a MCO replacement, thats actually how i found out about MWO (god bless you guys!)
Nothing even remotely close,I used to set my alarm clock like an hour earlier than i had to get up, simply so i could be there to see the auctions refresh so i could find a rare part or a rare car and get my bid on that baby ASAP!Actually when the auctions refreshed you could get lucky and see things that spawned with 2 minutes left on its auction,i got plenty of trick parts and rare cars doing that.
Soooo much fun and soooo cool, i couldnt wait to get home after work and see what bids i won, and then supe my ride up and tack on a few miles before i had to crash LOL good times.

Live for speed
step 1. sign up and download Live for speed (http://www.lfs.net/)
step 2. look for muscle car mods possibly on the live for speed forums (http://www.lfsforum.net/) (this might take you awhile so be patient)
step 3. ????
step 4.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65uNCLBTje0 (My version of the happy dance)
step 5. (optional) wait for MWO
I'm moving this to the general games forum, as it doesn't really have much to do with MWO.
But I want to add that MWO wont have auctions like MCO. The auctions from a programmers stand point, it would be pretty hard to recreate an ebay type environment. I don't think a lot of people understand how ahead of its time MCO was. We will have an auto trader type system where users can post classifieds and the sever will spawn its own classifieds. In the future we would like to go to an ebay style system but it might have to be done on the forum, where the forum would transfer your winnings to your game profile so its there when you log in. We do want the game integrated deeply into the forum software though.

I thought Live for speed cost money, perhaps I'm mistaken.

I used to do the same thing. Along with calling in sick to work, because I had to stay home and race. I still dont know why my wife didnt leave me because of that game.

Its funny you say that, MCO and my first real Trans Am resulted in the loss of my 7 year relationship with my high school sweet heart. Up until a few years ago it was the biggest tragedy in my life realizing a game came between me and someone I loved. Looking back now and how she turned out in the end anyway.... it was worth it. :D

Im telling ya man, I never realized how much it affected my life and my wife. After MCO closed, I didnt play any online games for a couple of years because I was so pissed off about the whole deal. When I started playing again, my wife told me from the get-go, that if I spent all my time on the computer again she would leave me. Now I just play COD4, but only a couple nights a week and try to spend time with her as well.

OH...MY...GOD! you guys have been spying on me, LOL. my wife didn't have to read me the riot act, at least. but she was amazed at how someone would actually go into a mild depression over the loss of a game. She used to like the cars so much that I actually had to buy her one and paint it her favorite color.

Same here KEN, My wife left me due to the game at the same time MCO closed its doors, I sure do miss MCO:p
I have since moved on and bettered myself where as she didn't....at all :D
I tried all kinds of games after MCO closed but to no avail, It just wasn't the same.
I did hook up with some people from NASCAR 2003 and had some fun with it but it's still not the same and could easily walk away if/when MWO comes out.
To me MCO was about what you could do, the people, the cars, the tracks, The whole damn package. I love muscle cars and always will, Hell I own 2 old Mopars and looking for more:eek:
I still keep in contact with my old club members from the MCO days and were are still close. They have told me that when this goes live there back with me in the club I ran. The thing about my club was we weren't about levels or wins, We wanted to build cars, chat and race. We would hang out in the club chat or the general chat and BS while we built cars or looked to see if someone was selling a rare part or car.
One of the old club members was at my home over the weekend and I looked on you tube to show him the old intro to MCO, we talked and named tracks and races we had done and cars we owned. It was a blast to say the least, But it made us miss it even more.
So then I showed him MWO and he went nuts, I sent him the link so he could find this place and he will sign up once he gets back home.
I wish you all the best in making this game and I hope to see go live soon.
Later,

hey Superbug, I just checked out Live For Speed. the free part gives you access to 1 or 2 tracks and 3 cars, if you want more, you have to spend as much as 50+ dollars for a full licence. if you could get some mods and developers kits it might be worthwhile looking at but I get the distinct impression that these people are counting on people buying licences and then pulling a bait and switch (you buy a licence based on expectations of getting access to more stuff that either takes forever or never comes) meanwhile they are counting on getting more people to buy licences. I'm not raining on the previous poster's parade, just playing devils advocate and being realistic. I'm certainly interested in other programs but MWO is one of the only ones I've found that comes closest to reproducing "the MCO experience".

I have Street Legal Redline and used to play it a lot. It's a fun game, but seemed to be way too buggy and crashed very often.

Street legal Racing Redline is cool there is a whole site devoted to this game http://street-legal-mods.com/index.gom
you can change cams, heads, intakes, pistons, you basicly build the engine your self and at the web site you could download cars, engines, and all kinds of things. It will definetly keep a MCO fan buisy for awhile. It's almost like street rod 3 if you've played that but way newer and better.
