Well, even though i am a MoPar man, or at least chevy.... i just bought a Furd..
1967 Ford Fairlane 500, 4 door, with a 2 barrel 289. hehe
gal i bought it from, bought it from someone who had just rebuilt the engine and transmission (and i got a feeling it aint stock, and not because of the glasspack muffler), but when it stopped starting over winter, it just sat.
Turns out, a little piece of plastic on the choke busted off,, i made a new one today, out of steel hehe
Power steering leaks like crazy,,, but i think i can fix that one, other then that,, this thing runs GREAT, sounds mean too :D...

that would make a perfect sleeper car. Leave her all stock, even keep the old ugly paint and drop in a big 451 or something wild.
After you get it fixed up a bit, Model it, and add a monster motor for in game use.:D

My Dad had a ford fairlane GT 66 back in 69
go get that fixed up and show us when your done.
I was also at a show last night where Kris Roe (from the ataris, a famous band amongst the younger crowd) played his hits from his band. I got to talk to him and he told me he bought and drove a 68 fairlane and loved everything about it. now he drives a dodge.
I'm suprised he was a car guy,
so.... I spilled the beans on MWO
sorry for threadjackin

hehe, I'm thinking i am going to keep it a sleeper on the outside, and i will prob keep the 289 too, or i might go to a 302 hehe
one things for sure, that 3 speed auto transmission,,, its going to go as soon as i can afford something better. this is going to be my daily driver, and i need something with overdrive. personally, i want a 5 speed manual, but my dad, who seems to hate manuals,,, wants me to get a slush box... good thing its my car, and it gets what i want in it :D lol
its already been lowered by one of the previous owners, at least in the rear (2 holes in the rear spring perch, and a third one was drilled, this is where the spring actually is lol)
in the end,,, i can just see this being one hell of a sleeper,,, because i love sleepers hehe
Hopefully today i can get some of the issues worked out, the "oil" light on the dash does not want to turn off, and i think its supposed to mean low oil pressure, but, i see no other signs of low oil pressure.
Also, the "brakes" light does not want to turn off either, and yet, all the brakes work real good (or as good as drums can lol)
So, i am thinking it has some faulty wiring, or bad senders, or something.
The power steering has issues too,,, leaks out the return line, previous owner thought it was a wrong sized tube, so i will be checking that out, and jerry-rigging a fix hehe

Update on the car ,,,
spent a 14 hour day working on it,,, rebuilt the carb, replaced the Oil Pressure Sending Unit, because it was the wrong kind entirely, and fixed the power steering leak. turns out the power steering hoses were just loose lol.
Now i have another issue though, the Bearings in the front hubs,, they are making one hell of a racket, and i don't know why lol... so i am going to be tearing into that tomorrow... along with the drums. it actually has 4 wheel drum brakes lol,,, and no power brakes, just full manual, disks all round are in the future of this car...
and, of course, now the power steering makes a whirring noise, all the time lol... so odds are, i will have to tear into that, AGAIN lol
but, one good thing, i love working on that car,, it Just missed having to meet any sort of emissions standards, so none of the usual power sucking emissions crap is on there, no catalytic, no AIR pump, minimal vacuum lines, (i think theirs only 2 lol)
Its so easy to work on too, simple. it only has whats needed to get it down the road.

And those are the polite ones. I know some that aren't so polite, like:
F**ked On Racing Day
F***in' Old Rusty Dodge
Oh yeah, and for the 4x4's:
Found Off Road, Ditched.
And of course, the original:

Well, i spent the day yesterday tearing into the brakes. Turns out the self adjusting spring on the passenger side was busted, and rattling around, Fixed that one hehe
Then i went to go bleed the brakes, and damn were they bad,,, the fluid has prob never been replaced.. because it was black, and bits had solidified in the base of the master cylinder lol
then i found that the front drivers side bleeder is stuck, real bad.
did the front passenger side anyways, and went to go do the back
Found out the rear drivers side bleeder is busted off
So, i just did the rear passenger side...
got it down on the ground again, started it let it warm up, etc
Tuned the carb because it was idling pretty high,,, and then it died and would not start again..
after a few min of trouble shooting,,, i found out that there is no spark lol
pulled the distributor cap, that's got a few big cracks in it, and needs to be replaced, real bad, as does the rotor.. OK, no big deal.
went to go put it back together again because it was too late to get any parts and whaddya know, another problem,,, there's no keyway on the distributor LOL damn damn damn
So, this evening i will be picking up a points eliminator kit, and matching coil (i found out this morning that some fool ran straight 12 volts to the coil, hence, why it died in the first place)
Heres to hoping i get it fixed tonight lol.... :D

Power steering work,

My buddy has the exact same car except black and he wrecked his and busted the block on a curb and bent the frame one day in the snow. Those are cool cars. they can interchange with cougar parts
