What's up with that? Shell gasoline is having big splash advertisements now that state their gasoline has nitrogen in it? Is it good or bad for the engine? Is nitrogen always in gas and Shell is just making hype or is this new tech? Sorry if this is a stupid chick question but inquiring minds like mine want to know!

Sorry; I've tried to post three times now, and it keeps telling me to register even though I'm logged in.
Writing post again now...
All right, I feel like written the same thing over and over again now, but let's try again.
If I were at a crossroads, and shell was one of a few gas stations there, I wouldn't choose one over the other as long as they are the same price. If they were differing prices, I'd go with whatever is cheapest.
Essentially, they are talking about their new detergent. I'm sure most oil companies change their detergents over time, but shell has decided to make a big fuss about it this time. The goal is to hopefully convince the general public into thinking, "Oh, shell is better because of the nitrogen thing; I'll go there even though it's they are all the same price or it's a little more." They want your business, and, the economy being as it is, they are using normal marketing techniques.
Their new additive has nitrogen bonded somewhere in its molecule, and, for sake a quick word to catch the attention of the audience, they throw that word in. They're not going to put the whole chemical compound name in the commercial, because no one will remember the name, and won't have as much of an impact. You don't take diphenhydramine, you take benadryl.
The majority aren't chemical engineers and chemists, so they just want something to grab your attention and stick in your mind.
This is most likely nothing more than a change in their additive formula (all gas must have detergents), and they just want to get whatever extra business they can from it.
Unfortunately, this will probably lead to more commercials from other oil companies regarding their superduper detergents.
Bottom-line: just go about your normal business as usual.

Interesting... my air has nitrogen in it. Everytime I hit the gas, I must be cleaning my engine! :p

Cookies, that's all. I think it's a combination of the main page login being valid in the cookies, but failing in the forums; so although I pass the login check, whatever validation for posting is more stringent and fails. I just logged out on the forums and logged back in on the forums instead of the main page.
This is a bug fix we have worked out, but haven't updated the main page cms backbone. We are getting ready for a major update so please bare with us.
Not sure I want to "bare" with anyone here. (well, maybe the ladies, but my wife would disapprove)
I might bear with you though.

lol, Ayce, you've pointed out one of my favourite little things in english. I, like ken, always want to use "bare" instead of "bear" in that way. I use the phrase "bearer of bad news" to remind myself which way it should be spelled. It's another one of those strange english things.
Guilty as charged. Damn it Jim, I'm an artist, not an English major!!!

If you want to do a little research on gas.. Try google and type in "top tier gas"
My 2cents would make it way more important than nitrogen..
Just my thoughts though.
