Since I don't see a "New Poll" or poll option in new thread, I'll just type them out.
(RW, if you can turn this into a poll, that'd be great)
Should a user be able to create a room with restrictions on car year range?
1. Yes; it should have 3 settings: Classic, Modern, Both
2. Yes; it should allow the user to specifically type in the year ranges allowed and have frequently used or common ranges so they don't have to type the same one each time (for simplicity and ease).
3. No; do not allow any restrictions on car year.
4. Other (post your idea)

I vote for number 2
I'm going with power to weight ratio, seems the most fair at least to get everyone started, just my thoughts.

i like em all its a race by race situaion, power to weight it nice, but the so is drag strip classes, but then again so is seperating car eras from one another

i voted for all of the above i think i thiink it should be like mco where it was classic a or muscle b or modern c the letter depends on the power to wieght ratio then classic muscle modern ect depends on the type of car it is

I voted option 2, but I agree with cargasm. I believe both power to weight and year range can be implemented together like MCO did. Having divisions within each year range would help out the people just starting out, so they dont have to go up against a high powered car right off the bat.

lol, this got turned into something else. This was specifically to address the year range questions. Power to weight is not attached to it in anyway. I believe we've talked about power to weight classes divisions before. This is just to help people give their opinions on year ranges (mostly for worries about handling differences between classic and modern).
So to the poll added, I say all of the above, but I started this thread assuming that power to weight and the other options were already going to be in game. I just wanted to have the thread find out who wanted the ability to specify year ranges in addition to the rest.

Year restriction? NO. I will be setting up some stock racing at times. Grab a car and bring your A game. The more obstacles and turns the better.

I've been thinknig about these for a while now so here are my thoughts
1: by age
Classic; Pre '64
Muscle; '64 - '74
Retro; '75-'89
Modern; '90-now
Mixed; open to all
NOTE: There would be an exceptions box where the host can specify any year/make/model that is outside of the requirements, but can still enter (max' years out of range 5 years)
2: by Body Style
- Sedan
- Coupe
- Ragtop
- Fastback
- Wagon
- Pickup
Once again there would be an exceptions box,
3: by Engine displacement, power output, transmission
- Small Blocks; <352 Cu in
- Big Blocks; >352 Cu in
- power or torque output
- user controllable engine displacement limits (Set max or min)
- max speed trans' that is usable
4: By capabilities, based on the actual value (not inflated market value) of all aftermarket parts installed
- Stock; car with less than 10% added value in Aftermarket parts
- Pro-Stock; Car with 11%-24% added value in Aftermarked parts
- Pro-Street; Car with 25%-49% added value in Aftermarket parts
- Drag; Car with >49% added value in Aftermarket parts
We could give the user a choice of all of the above, but I feel that the top two would probably be best as it keeps things simple yet flexible,
Hope ya guys wanted a setting for Trans Am races. (No not the car, the actual race.)

Would the restrictions of trans-am be there as well? No bigger than 302 cubic inches and the such?
gcountach, short answer yes. I'm hoping it will inspire some of you to build and sell Trans Am ready cars for the new less experienced guys.

My vote is YUK. trans am = closed road courses... bleah. Street and Strip = muscle. Ayce is already thinking "race track" and that's the problem I see with adding a trans am class. I prefer streets and roads and scenery over *hooooo-hummm* boring closed road courses.
I'd be playing GT Legends and rFactor (both of which I own but don't play) if I wanted this style of racing.
I'm here for muscle cars, street racing, and backroad racing. I'm good with the dirt oval and a Daytona style course and a drag strip. Make the rest of 'em city and county roads. Screw closed course road racing tracks.

I have to agree with RW.........
Now, now RW, don't get yer knickers in a knot. :ahhhhh:
I said T/A "style" not closed courses. I've been looking at the series tracks for inspiration, and some layouts, suitably dressed, could pass for regular roads, just set up pylons to direct the flow. I know I won't use "real" tracks and roads for my designs but they can be inspired by them. I've got overheads of all but one of the T/A series tracks, and I was thinking of combining them into one big area, giving us the option of using any section while making it look like a series of back roads, with different surfaces and types. (Some fairly flat and striaght, others hilly and twisty, with variations in between.) Maybe I'll call it Mowota Valley. :D
Nothing firm yet, so if we decide not to do a T/A style race, I can cancel and go back to the warehouse. >:D<

But we'll have Z/28 camaros, won't we? How could you improve on that?! :p

:-/What "knickers", Ayce?
Well I really do want to offer a little of everything with MWO so there will be a few road courses, but majority will be street/country roads that we enjoyed back in the good ole days. Sorry but I loved the dirt O track from mco :p
@RW: You don't know what they are, or don't wear any? :p
Anyway, I tried a test design idea, and multitracking won't work out. too messy. I slightly modified one track to try, but I'm not tellin' which one. :D

Why is there a poll on who do you think will win instead of who do you want to win? I want Bush to win, but I have no way of knowing who will win especially as so much can happen in the next 7 months.

AM/FX A/FX Stock, SuperStock, Modified Stock. old school race divisions are cool, but id hafta vote for power to weight ratio, the cars mean nothing to me, its the competition that makes it a race. i could care less about car type, ill put my 64 galaxie up against your 84 5.0 anyday so long as we both run laptimes within 1.5 secounds of one another, my car- 425 HP, your 5.0- 210 HP, Good Racing right there.
