Haha, ok, I'm sorry. I can't get over this placemat, I mean mouse pad. It got me thinking (is that a good thing?)

Perhaps a good way to get donations toward your new development software would be to sell novelty items for MWO such as mouse pads, etc. I was thinking I would like to have the lastest screenshot of "Will you be ready" applied to a mousepad for my own personal use.

Sounds like some nice stuff people. I'm going to be in the market for a five speed Pathfinder in the spring, then driving back home to Maine in the summer.
And thats not my desk lol, so that mouse pad isnt going with me :p

Nothing spectacular here this year, unless you consider a 4 vol. set of "The best of the "Q" episodes" spectacular. Other than that, the usual sox and undies.

Camarokid, I'd love that setup too but I can't do wireless keyboard or mouse because of lag while online gaming :D

Happy New Beers guys!

Well, I haven't used wireless anything for several years now. They've probably resolved all the lag issues by now. Before if you try to play a competitive online game such as Counterstrike, those bits of lag between the keyboard & mouse definately add up.

It's mostly unique to FPS online games, where every ms adds up, as KrokE said. Wireless not only has lag, but sometimes seems to not function consistently. Consistency with a mouse is especially important, because reflex shots where muscle memory is the most important aspect would not be possible on an inconsistent wireless mouse.

LCDs are also a "no-no" in gaming. Their response times are not sufficient for gaming (most LCDs state their grey-to-grey times, but in reality the actual rate is several times that). Add in input lag, and it just isn't worth it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Input_lag (watch the "video" -- a gif animation actually -- to see the difference)

I tried to play "American Chopper" with a cordless keyboard, once. When the batteries started to die out at a critical point, you can guess where the keyboard went.

Interesting read about the LCD's Wraith, I was considering one (or 2) but that, and other things, have convinced me otherwise. I'll wait until I can get one for the wife, (she doesn't do any serious gaming, just mail and chatting) and get her19" Dell CRT for a replacement second monitor. It's taking some getting used to only having one, when I've been running duals for so long. (KILL DA RABBIT!)

To Ayce and anyone else planning on buying an LCD soon: Hopefully, OLED monitors will be out sometime in 2009. Technically, they are much cheaper to manufacture than LCDs, but as with most things, ramping of production and general tradition of expensive early prices will probably make it way more expensive than it should be. Anyway, OLEDs are faster even than CRTs at changing pixels, and, as long as there is very little additional latency added in the signal conversion, it should finally present gamers with a real alternative to the bulky 50-80lb monitors.

I play several games on this, plus many movies. I have zero complaints. I have never noticed any display problems. This is an LG FLATRON W2252TQ. So far, money well spent.
