It snowed 30" at my house, 20 miles north of Spokane, WA! No, that's not my house, that's the woodshed in front of my house.
In Spokane the old record was 13" in 24 hrs and we blasted that out of the snow-park with 19" in 24 hours at the airport.
Police are asking everyone to stay home, businesses are closed, snowplows can't keep up. It's something to see, the snowstorm of the century.

Sorry to post so much but I got what I though was a funny story, A friend of mine moved to canada and they had a little 1 foot deep swiming pool in there backyard for his son. He woke up one day and looked in the yard and there was a moose laying in it. LOL I never seen a real moose. Atleast not down here in Pa. If I find the picture I'll post it.

Funny you should mention a moose - had one in my front yard last year twice during that big snow.

Lookin more and more like home, eh camarokid?
And I hit one in July. 6-700 lb @ 100 kph will do a number on a 96 Grand Caravan's window, which my wife can attest to.

Ah, yes, the classic moose tales of lore. They must be retold for the new generation.

Just got this one in today's email. Another story for the youngsters to ooh and ahh and check on snopes about:
Pogo Moose Incident - Fairbanks , Alaska
'They were laying new power cables which were strung on the ground for miles.
The moose are rutting right now and very agitated.
He was thrashing around and got his antlers stuck in the cables.
When the men (miles away) began pulling the lines up with their big equipment,
the moose went up with them. They noticed excess tension in the lines and went
searching for the problem. He was still alive when they lowered him to the ground.
He was a huge 60 inch bull and slightly peeved!'

The big thing down here in Northeast Pennsilvainia are Deer, Though I hit a bear once with my exgirlfriend's 87 Buick Lasaber. At the time I was still in high school and a few friends in autobody fixed it for free. All it really needed was a grill and headlight, they pulled the hood out alittle to. I was going about 40mph when I hit the bear and it flew about 10-15 feet and yiped real loud. I drove anothere mile or so before I got out of the car to check the damage. Afterwards we went to the police department and they called the game commision and from what they said we probably only bruised it.
On a side note we got about 8 inches of snow and we're suppose to get snow christmas eve, Can't wait Snow+Snowplow=$$$ Merry Chistmas Everyone!!!

We have parents ready to kill or sell their children - they were supposed to go back to school Monday, but because of all the snow (now rain and flooding) school is still closed. The sidewalks are so snowed/iced in kids trying to walk to school would have to walk in the middle of the road.
We have had almost 70 local businesses roof collapses and countless private property collapses.
The local stations were advertising that anyone who shows up in Spokane with a snow shovel can be put immediately to work at $20.00 per hour.
It's been an amazing record snowfall, and now it's 40 (f) and raining, almost 2 feet of snow melted yesterday alone so now if you come to Spokane you should wear hip waders.

We gots snow in Indiana too...heh. Not that much by any means, but I think it's measuring about 6-7 inches depending on where you measure. We will also be getting more snow~ Here's the scene directly in front of my house, I just went outside and snapped this(when I first started writing this post).

(It's a bit darkened...and I even brigtened it a few notches...but too much brightness and it washed out. My Cannon Power Shot is pretty good at auto correction, so it is about as good as can be expected with that much white.)
Needless to say, there's school closings and the whole lot here too. If we got 30" people around here would probably go into shock and have no idea what to do, heh.

Yea, I've been up since 10am and only now been able to look at the forums. Electricity has been going out all around us (in surrounding counties too). Raining on everything and the ~20 degree temp makes it freeze before it trickles off, causing a ton of ice build up. Already had one major limb come down on our dog fence...
crap, lights are flickering again. Thank god for this UPS.... GOTTA GO!
I feel your pain guys. Thinking about calling off and working on MWO tomorrow lol!

well its been a frozen hell around here in KY. We had around 2 inches of ice and 4-6 inches of snow. Where i am at, we (the fire dept) have been going around clearing roads and trying to help the ambulance get around. We are running low on the cities water supply and dont have any power. Im on because of our little generator and they said it will be anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks till its all fixed. No stores are open and no gas is being sold around here. Power polls were snapped like twigs. Its been pretty crazy. So i understand where you guys are comming from. Good luck and be safe. -Matt

Incase no one has noticed, me, ROC'N 86, and J_Simmons all live in the same (or adjacent) counties in Kentucky. Ice was awful. It rained for what seemed like 18 hours straight in ~20 degree temps. Everything froze, trees couldn't handle the weight and snapped, and a lot of telephone poles and wires couldn't bear the excessive weight of the ice and just snap or broke in half.
I lost power after my last post in about 2 hours and I'm right now only online because we got a 5000 watt generator cranking. We were lucky enough to be able to live on a highway that was cleared quick and was able to get to town to get plenty of gasoline. ROC'N 86's county in in worse shape. Last I heard, their water pumps are offline and without generators they'll run out of water.
Bad for me is a huge branch came down on our service line (the line from the main pole to your house) and knocked off the neutral (ground) wire. That means our house is going to be on the later end of that 1-3 weeks estimate as power companies will try to get power to substations before they go to individual houses. But so long as we have gasoline it's not much different from normal. I just can't get online as much as I have been and I got to carry around a flashlight so I'd say I got off pretty easy compared to a lot.
Oh, and all our snow froze after it fell, so I couldn't make a snowman:( Funny enough, first thing I did when I got to get online was check email and then head directly to this forums to check out all the news. I may have a problem...:p

Good luck! Don't be like them idiots who ran their generator in the garage (attached to the house) and asphyxiated themselves. Generator needs to be OUTSIDE so the exhaust is not venting into the home. Also when we had our ice storm 10 yrs back people were trying to use hibachi's and bbq's indoors and dying of asphyxiation. Please be careful, and good luck getting your power back on. Ours was out for almost 3 weeks back then - I'm glad I have a wood stove!

You guys have it lucky.
I currently have 45-60 cm (24" +) on the ground, and it keeps coming. Canada really isn't all it's cracked up to be. I scraped about an inch of salt/sand mixture off my car the other day and it's coated again.

Thanks man, The national guard is set up at both schools here and then across the street at a church. Also we got i believe all the parts to get our weather head so that we can get it back together and inspeced and then get hooked up with the power. There is about a block on my street that doesn't have power yet... to bad im in that block lol -Matt

I've been spending the last week at my friends LANing it up every night because our house STILL has no power. You can go down the highway we live on and the houses go dark at the same point today as they did a week ago.

I live in the northern part of KY and one of my friend's cars got crushed by a tree. It was a brand new charger. It was a sad sight, the roof was caved in about 3 inches and the back glass was busted out.
