you know what would be really cool that i truly wished mco had was being able to drive outside of the tracks...like a small seperate world where you could actually drive to the old style roller restaurant or drive to the tracks themselves...now that would be amazing something to get away from the racing itself when you want cause i know i spent alot of time on mco going to the car dealer and test driving cars and just cruising around the tracks or starting races with friends on goose and just driving around chatting and claiming houses i know sounds kinda sad but seriously we all did it :P

I believe there is something very similar planned for MWO.

Amen man. Thats exactly what we need. If we were able to cruise around a city with all the retro stores, ads, billboards and of course, the cars, the game would be more then a game. It'd be a second life for me, lol! I imagine pulling up the the Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer and just hanging out with a bunch of other guys and their fords, walking around with my created character and checking out the Boss 302 and the 71' Torino for sale on the lot and even racing some guy with the 66' Nova who pulls up to the next block or so for fun! Or going to some old diner, getting out of your car, going inside with your character and just hang out and listen to the jukebox with the Wolfman on the radio and chat. You know how in GTA, where you're pretty much living in this city? Minus the shooting, drugs, gangs, guns, storyline and everything else GTA related and that's MWO in my mind. I definitly think we need that aspect of the game, where we can just cruise around with our cars with other players, y' know?

we will but not at the start and were calling it free roam, cruise around and stuff like that (this will imply the use of gas/fuel too)
it won't be implemented until much later, right now the dev team is trying to work and perfect the bare bones: cars, parts, tracks, Menu, Online etc..
My guess is free roam will play out much like Need for speed underground 2, where you can drive around to races and shops and dealerships. (with icons on the map and visible icons on the road showing what kind of race, shop, dealership it is) for example: you drive to a specialty shop and you can see the specialty shop icon on the road indicating that it is and you drive in, then it brings up a menu with your car on a turntable (which you can spin, weeee!!) and have the viable shop options to customize your car.

thats one thing i loved about tdu you could just cruise around and meet people then drive around with them
it seems like it would be alot of work to do tho

We'll need to walk before we run folks, the beta we're working on probably won't include free roam however it's on the slate for down the road. Let us get the game up first and then we can work on all the extras we have in mind.
