Well you all remember me saying I got a new car - an 05 Cobalt. The 2nd day I owned it I noticed some gunk under it. Stopped by the Chevy dealer they said it's coolant leaking.
I take it back to the car lot, and they say "Oh, we'll fix that right up for ya". I picked it up when they said it was ready, drove about 2 miles, it overheated. Brought it back, they gave me a loaner. I told ya about the Monte...
I got my car back, put about 100 or so miles on it... overheated. They put a new water pump in it, and a new thermostat. Problem solved. Drove it about 100 - 150 miles, it overheated.
Back to 1st Choice Auto Sales... "hey guys..." they're getting sick of seeing me by now. The head gasket had blown. They milled the head, put a new gasket in, gave 'er back to me. 150 miles, overheating. Take it back.
They flush it out, said someone had tried using barsleak in it and that was clogging up. Get it back, you got it. 150 miles later, it's overheating. So they flush and backflush again, got a bunch of gunk out, and still... drove it about 150 miles and it overheated.
I'm getting pretty mad by this time, I'm not stupid and I let them know this. They've told me every step of the way, "we will make this right". Oh, and the warrenty company was saying "this is a pre-existing problem and we won't cover it", so the car lot is paying for all this.
Anyway. This last time they've finally decided to condemn the engine and install a new one for me. Gee, it's only taken 6 trips back to them and a freakin' MONTH.
The loaner I'm in now is an 00 Focus 2 door POS. At least the gas mileage is good. I'm supposed to get my car back with a new engine next week. Those guys have sure lost any profit they started with on this car, but I'm getting a new engine and I couldn't be happier to have basically a new car at a used car price! :smile:
