View Full Version : Revitalizing Motor World Online

KEN

Motor World Online was born July 7th 2006. This project was born out of a need to replace a memory long gone. Over the last five years this project has seen its shares of ups and downs. Developers coming and going, technology changes, engine switching, fall outs between project leads, sever issues and well I could beat a dead horse but I think we get the point. We’ve seen a few alpha releases but to date we have not been able to get this project to beta. This has all changed recently as I have decided to commit my time (due to recent events) and funding to this project full time as of today.

No longer will this project lie dormant on a dusty hard drive waiting for an ounce of free time. We are making real progress as of today. This project is in full force with a great team behind it. I would like to take the time to introduce the team that will be bringing you Motor World Online. New to our team is Yufu, and he is our everything vehicle and physics programming guru. Paul Flemming you may remember as our Network and Database programmer. Paul is also the provider of our new VPS hosting for Motor World Online and we thank him greatly for the speed boost. (I hate you shared hosting, I absolutely hate you!) Thaigo Hen our loyal Lead Artist and personal good friend is our resident everything and anything needed modeler. Mad Mike is our beast of a car modeler who is responsible for the majority of muscle cars that you will find in our little forth coming title. Ayce is our track designer, who has been with us since the project started. And where would a racing game be without some bad ass original tunes? Cline is our resident music and sound effects man. Who could forget the Weasel, our loyal moderator and voice of reason! Last is myself, Ken Beard. I am a level designer, UI designer, and the guy who dreamed this little project up.

I owe a great deal to this community. I can’t thank you all enough for sticking with us threw thick and thin. Your support over the years has kept this project alive and going forward. Speaking of going forward I hope you are all as excited as I am for what the future holds for Motor World Online. So again, welcome back. Its going to be a fun ride!

Cool vids, Ken. :D

Also, a warm welcome to Yufu. :-bd

Hopefully, soon, I will see those physics used on one of my tracks. It's difficult to gauge how the track will work, when you don't know how the car will perform on said track.

On a personal note, I've been getting back into playing bass, so I've been neglecting my tracks. :"> I'll assign more time to them again. With the wife now working, I'll have a bit of time to work on them, while taking care of the girls. I'm still working PT, but the hours have dropped dramatically.
I do have the Foggy Mountain track almost ready, plus my first Eastring version is already available. I just want to add a few marker bits to foggy mountain, to make it more complete. Also, the "Inspired by MCO" series will need some attention. Looks like it's going to get busy around here. :D

This is absolutely wonderful! It's a welcoming large bite of the best burger in the world that is nearly done. My mouth is watering upon its arrival.

Sweet! Let's get this ball rolling! Thanks for the great intro Ken, we're here 100%. Hey I love that Camaro SS dash on the front page - but then I'm sorta biased that way!

I've been here since the beginning, glad to see it moving forward. It got to be a joke among my online friends, they would ask " You gonna join us playing (pick the MMO) or you still waiting for MWO? LOL" Can't wait to prove em wrong, in fact, I know some of them will be there too!

I have to give kudos to Ken and the entire design team, they have had a vision and desire for years and never gave up when so many would have. Nice going guys!

On a side note, I took the javelin out the other night to a cruise and got my juices flowing again for MWO and the car. This last year was rough, divorce, mother passing, moving and house buying, reduction at work just to name a few so a night out talking cars was a welcome change. Our car season is just starting down here.

Cant wait to play the beta, keep us posted

Got a Birthday wish from MWO Online, so I decided to take a look after a very long absence. I'm sure glad I did. Great to hear that this thing we all love is back in the works. Great videos Ken. Can't wait to see more.

Well, this is very early development and the iteration of game those videos were made with hasn't been worked on as long as the alpha release was, I'm guessing. There's still going to be some polishing, but that's after all the functionality gets put in...it has to work first, then make it look good. Also good advice when working on real cars. :p

I've gone ahead and removed the videos from the link as they no longer accurately reflect the current development in MWO. We hope to be releasing some screen shots onto the main site in the coming week.
I assure you quality is our top most priority and you will have a good looking game :)

Thank you

Ive never been let down by the progress of MWO. I know it was hard to make an indie game of the scale and class MWO needs to reflect. So with love and congratulations, I again patiently await the beta dawn, and some kick arse V8 rumble!
