just got it last night, wondering if anyone else has.
so far, with only a few hours playing:
great graphics, the rain effects are freakin eye popping with everything cranked up
a little bit buggy, have crashed a couple of times. took a bit to get wheel close to where i like, and sorta sort out settings.
the free roam environment, roads, buildings are fantastic and smooth looking and to drive on.
im not sold on the handling yet, but as i only have a basic starter car with just lvl1 upgrades, so i cant speak to that with only 1 car in my garage. i hope they get better LOL
huge, huge map can drive forever lol. overall i had fun with it so far, just gonna take a while to get going on it with my pace gaming lately LOL.
Cool! I never checked out the first tdu and always wondered if i'd like it or not. I burned out on Heat pretty quick, so maybe i should come check out tdu2. I really thought i'd never say this again, but my racing time is being eaten up by MCO at the moment. It's pretty fun just setting times on tracks again.
The money I had set aside for TDU2 ended up in my gas tank. Oh well. I *might* have a job soon though.

i burnt out on heat fast, too, i guess. biggest thing was my fav car was prob the phoenix in the old game. its way nerfed in heat. used to be able to keep up with mediocre drivers in it even tho it dint handle as good, because it had the acceleration of a drag car when upgraded LOL.

I was actually thinking about posting my experience of TDU2 this weekend.
I posted about the issues I had in the beta here (http://www.motorworldonline.net/forum/showpost.php?p=20755&postcount=8).
First, the issues with the shifting are pretty much resolved, although they went back to the original TDU style of being able to shift while still being flat out on the accelerator (in the HShift + Clutch configuration).
Because of the severe shifting issues I encountered in beta, I couldn't really play the game much to get a feel for it. Now that they have resolved those issues, I could and I'll just say there is a big lack of feel.
Configuring my wheel took about an hour to get it to a drivable state. As for feedback, the wheel I have is the strongest I'm aware of that's not one of those 1000 dollar wheels, yet in game, there's very little pull (like some kind of super power steering) except when you are holding a turn such as going around a roundabout at 50 mph in the inside lane.
The handling of the cars in "hardcore" mode is still very arcadey, which means things don't happen the way you expect to happen if you're used to real or quality simulation driving. Actually, not that I think about it, the license schools said that in the license mode, the handling is forced to sport, and I honestly didn't detect much of a difference. In any mode, you can break hard, corner easily, and fly around 90 degree corners much faster than your should be able to. TDU1 had a substantial amount of unrealistic understeer, but the levels of grip in TDU2 have overcompensated that. You can almost be slamming on the brakes through the entire turn without worrying about missing the line.
Acceleration is probably the only thing they have going for them that seems unarcadey. Braking seems slightly overpowered.
TDU2 really should release a demo so people can see what it's like. It's definitely not geared toward sim people. The only saving grace for it is that it has the great free-roam which is enjoyable even without realistic physics. TDU1, even with it's messed up roads, space flights, and all was enjoyable just for cruising around. TDU2 having fixed the gravity and super bouncey jaggedness of the roads improves on that aspect.
Anyway, save your money and see if you can try it out for free from someone then make your decision.

Ok so I spent all flippin day playin it. Well. Not much has changed. The online play is cool, Nice amount of cars to pick from, grafix are alright, sounds cool..........................BUT
The map is crazy and you have to drive it all to find anything. TODAY I drove over 1k miles. I bought three cars. sold two and wound up with a gt40 before I shut it off. The radio sucks. Rap and Emo. thier are cool little things like windows and such but this is gonna be a alot of flippin work. YOU CANT CHANGE THE CONTROLS!!!!!
I did buy it at gamestop and thier was a card inside about a online casino. BUT I cant seem to find the flippin thing.
My rating 3 outa 5. Long winded with a whole lotta style.

You should be able to change the controls. What happens when you try to change the buttons? Or are you playing it on a console?
Did you play the first TDU? Not much has changed regarding map discovery, actually, it's easier to find stuff this time. In TDU1 you had find basically everything by driving around. In this one, if you do the race challenges it unlocks a lot of stuff for you, basically showing you where everything is. They do have hidden stuff which you have to find by driving around which is how you found the normal stuff in the first one.
All my comments are related to the PC version, but I'm guessing you're using a PS3 or Xbox.

You can try this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5464193/TDU2CarList.pdf
Although the people in the thread where I found that say that it's not complete (shouldn't be as there are supposed to be more cars than that in the game).

Honestly, the game seems like it was made to make as much profit as possible. They have fewer cars, and most of the gameplay is on the same island as TDU. It seems like they addressed the issues in the first one, added in the current trend of more customization (cosmetic surgeries now???), and played more to the "do [insert stupid level-up pre-requisite] to progress in the game" style.
Obviously I was more disappointed they didn't go in a completely different direction, but I never believed that my desire for its future would end up being reality :)
If you never played TDU, I'd say it's better to get TDU2, as you'll get a little more than you did in TDU along with a couple irritating things (slightly more arcadey, lame shifting, etc). If you already own TDU, you're not missing out on much (especially if you like some of the domestics that were in the original and are now gone without any reasonable replacement). Frankly, if you forgot TDU existed, it wouldn't be so bad; as it is, however, it's like an expansion pack that includes the original game.

Yeah I think the cosmetic crap is for the birds, why do I need a flippin haircut Im drivin a damn car. I did make it tonight to lvl 10 then they send you to Hawai. Hills and mountains YEA!!! < BS. They set u up in a house with one car so you are stuck bringin one car.
I will say. As far as the online play it is great. Thier will always be the moron out there trying to wreck ya or something but not much lag on the server, voices are clear and times are right.
Edit: I dont know if it is new or old but I will say. When you can be a cop it's a blast. Everyone fights in squads

when yer in the garage, walk over to the board with the flashing letter "I" and press "ok". you will see a list of yer cars. if you wanna drive 1, it will magically be transported to your location and you can drive it out of yer garage...at least you can do that in the offline mode. (I'm assuming you can do that in the online mode also)
has anybody found all the wrecks of any 1 area, yet?
:)

Yeah I have found MANY wrecks. When you move from one island to the other you start on a new set of cars to discover
I have found MANY Flaws in this game. Depending on the car your driving if you drive past someone and honk the horn.it will get stuck blowin'.
Again depending on the car but not with the horn issue cars. the headlights will pop up every once in a while.
Thier was a issue with the turn signals but I forgot what it was.
Some of the AI cars disapear when you are headed towards them.
When you yank the ebrake the rear wheels dont lock up.They stay movin' <This one pissed me off
"small pet peve" when ya rev the motor the damn car doesnt shake.
Reguardless what flippin gear you are in. When you start off you roast tires.Dunno I have 500+ Hp with a 4:10 rear end and I cant roast tires in my camaro in 6th gear.
Thier are a few more but dont remember them. Ill post'em. Look out for this crap it'll bug ya.

I got TDU2 the day it came out, I had even pre-ordered it, in full, a month in advance. Not that I was super excited about it, I was already at gamestop to buy Red Dead Redemption(which is awesome), so I figured I'd ordered TDU2 while I was there.
Anyways, I've played it maybe a total of 2 hours. I'm not pleased at all with this game. I know TDU isn't suppose to be a sim, but the physics in TDU2 are just pathetic. The first TDU, even though not realistic, were still enjoyable, and worked well with the rest of the environment. You could casually cruise down the road and not encounter any problems. In TDU2, I don't know what they did, but it's not fun at all to drive. If you're cruising and you decide to slightly nudge the thumb stick to move into another lane, you'll fly into a building. That may be somewhat exaggerating, but my point is that the handling is not smooth.
I played it the day I got it, about two weeks ago, and haven't touched it since. Quite a shame, I was hoping this game would be just as good as TDU and then some.
Everything else there is say, zeus01's already covered. I'll give it another go today see if I can grow to like it. It's a game though, it should be fun the moment you play it.

I'm a huge fan of TDU2, and have been playing it (PS3) daily since release. I love it.
Test Drive (please see earlier versions) never ever had good physics/car handling, so I didnt expect them to have it now, nor do I expect them to have it ever!
If you can see past this, and the minor bugs it has, it's one of my favorite games!

But they arnt minor bugs. U have to look at it like this. Activision is a multi BILLION sized company and they cant get "Minor bugs" right before they release a game...............JOKE!
I will say reguardless of their F-ups I do find myself playin it often.Dunno if I like it or this is just the newest game I own.

I love drivin' and I love exporin'; when I can do both in the same game...thats a good game for me. I agree 100% about the bugs but I still like drivin' and cruisin...
have you guys found the Cobra and the Daytona, yet?...awesome wicked cars...yeah, I know; the car physics suck but I didnt' buy the game as a sim, I bought it as a cruisin' game...

Oh and WTF cant i just do a damn burnout
Wraith
03-11-2011, 01:28 PM
Burnouts were frustrating when I was playing this. Take the 458 italia: if you have it above 2k rpm at launch you'll just spin. In contrast, whichever one of the B3 cars I was using (I'm pretty sure it was the Q7) is a confusing mess to get to launch properly. If you have the throttle wide open, bouncing off the rev limiter, about 1 in 5 times, it'll launch well. The other times, it won't just spin wildly, it'll just drop to 1k and with no tire spin. Huh? If I remember right, there's somewhere in 4-5k range where it would more frequently launch well. I already mentioned the clutch issues -- no neutral when you disengage the clutch, and no sense of slippage or gradual disengaging -- which of course make all of this a mess anyway.
What does activision have to do with this game? It's developed by Eden and published by Atari. Eden is the one responsible for bug squashing.
For the PC version, there will probably be updates to hopefully address at least some of the weird flaws in the game. I don't know if consoles have any ability to update games.
