Alpha 2 will just be a proof of concept test, nothing online. It will feature the 32 Ford, and a track that you can drive on. It will keep track of best times and report to the server. Basically will be the building step to the first MWO Beta.

We don't need no stinkin' reverse, that's what the reset button is for.

We'll probably need brakes though as there won't be any other cars on the track to help slow down

Ugh..... I hate reset buttons! It has to be there, but I just wish your car had to be "AT REST" for at least 2 seconds before it can be used.

I remember in MCO, as soon as some joker would hit the wall.....RESET! Start to loose control.... RESET!

It is the same with Project Torque!

IMO, if you can't learn to control your car, you have to face the consequences... IE: Barrel Roll and damage, or hit the wall and have to recover from the slide before you go head on into the wall.

Don't worry Zer I feel your pain, reset is only usable when you flip on your side or roof.

I like the reset button, but sometimes in the middle of the race and after hitting a wall, reverse is impossable to find. :)

One thing I loved/hated about PU was that reset button. you had to wait till you finished crashing before it would reset. :D

I just want reverse to work this time and to speed around the track!

PaulTech

Breaks - Check
Reverse - Check (Have to downshift not just use the back button thou)
The way the "Reset" is coded is -
"If 4 wheels are not on ground & If Wheels are not moving & Movement = 0"

So you have to be flipped, Not spinning tires and not still flying thru the air ;).
Then it will reset you to the last known road travelled.

Try really hard not to crash thou.

The cars stall if damaged too much ;P

If you get in a situation where you need to use reverse, it just means you weren't going fast enough when you crashed :o)

I agree and I am glad to hear Ken say the reset is going to be limited.

Seems like I remember a reset bug as well. People were resetting and warping on down the track at a certain spot on a certain track I think. Spillway maybe?

Actually, the warping was due to lag between machines, and will almost always be there in any online racing game. It has to do with the ability of one persons connection being fast enough to update where the other players are at all times.

Myself, I am on a satellite internet connection, on my home PC.

However this should never be misconstrued as "Cheating" because with racing games, it does not matter in the end, if one person finishes in 2:12.56 and another finishes in 2:11.98, the faster time is the winner and the server will sort it out in the end.

It is different with other MMOs because of the relatively small size of the arenas, and speed of a 1st person shooters character, compared to a 120mph car.

I almost asked when the second alpha was going to be ready b/c I was gone for a few days but I thought twice about it and realized if I couldn't find it on the site it probably wasn't out yet. Thanks for the answer though and may all your life's problems be easier than racing a Civic.
I now have to tend to my paintball welts.
