Waste of money if you ask me.

Indeed, the current games dont require that much power though, not even in 2-3 years.
Its completely overkill, but why should you care if u have money anough to waste on something you like lol.

Its the same concept as owning a dyno queen. Completely useless in the real world, but always fun to show off. Its like a 2000+ hp supra, but computer parts are alot cheaper and will usually last alot more benchmarks than a supra would last in dyno pulls.

My mobo is an Nvidia based offering that supports up to 3 x16 cards in TriSLI. It was one of the first to have 3 full speed x16 slots, the Nforce 780i. The 790i had a few differences, DDR3 I think was the biggest. Mine is the DDR2 board. I only run the one graphics card now, but I went overkill on the mobo at the time I got it so I'd have the upgrade potential if/when I do upgrade to multi-GPU. The same with my power supply, a Cooler Master 1000 watt.

That was my premice when I was buying the parts for this PC(I bought one or two bits per week, took me months to get all the stuff to assemble)...I bought stuff that would allow future upgrade potential in spades. What does that? The mobo, since it determines what CPU/memory/graphics you can run, and the power supply nowadays, since you have to have so much power to run current graphics cards. Anyways, sorry for rambling a bit there. Just throwing out my thoughts on upgrade potential and multi-gpu setups.
