I personally think it would be great if MWO also had European classic cars available. I understand the basic idea is for American muscle cars, but there are some amazing Euro cars that would add a lot of variety. You could even have a European car dealer ship, Ferrari, Lamborgini etc.
What do you think?

I see no problem with adding foreign cars, as long as they adhere to the "classic" genre. But I do not want to see the kinds of imports that appeared in MCO at all....
I would probably buy some classic imports if they were in game. I will not, however, buy anything newer than 1990, as part of the fun for me is driving cars that I don't see every day and/or will never get the chance to drive in real life.

Along time ago on the vewry first forums, we talked about classic euro cars as being an expansion, which is i think the most perfect idea.
a european expansion with classic euro cars and euro type tracks
Not to step on RW's toes, but that was discussed when the project first started, and was rejected.
This game will be based on "International Muscle Cars" only. No exotics (Ferrari, Porsche, MB, BMW, Lambos etc.), European, (Fiat, Jag, Austin Martin, Skoda, VW etc.) or Asian, (Honda, Subaru, Toyota, KIA, Scion etc.)
There will be GM(Chev,Pontiac, Buick, Olds, Holden) Mopar(Dodge, Plymouth,Chrysler) Ford(Ford, Mecury, Lincoln) and maybe a few off the wall makes, like Hudson or Studabaker that might find their way in.:D
The main prerequisite is Mid-Full size body styles with big honkin' motors.
No offence for asking, but that's just not gonna happen.

Sits up from recliner looks around shakes head.. OK well this is a american classic muscle car genre game. That is a nice idea. not to put ya idea down.. but there are PLENTY of CLASSIC euro car games out there. and NO American classic only games out there. But not to worry gran turismo 5 for ps3 will be out on the 16th .. for all the euro fans. supposed to be a hot item..

In my opinion what made MCO so great was the way you could interact with other people in real time, and trade/buy parts. Regardless of what kind of cars are used that is what I am looking for, and GT6 is not going to have that.
If anyone knows of another game with a simular style let me know, like I said I dont really care if it is classic cars or new cars.

For those who "just don't understand"... go play something else. It would be nice if we could do everything everyone would like but we're doing what we like and that doesn't include euro cars. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to play Porsche Unleashed still, online, with the small community that is still around. I played every other NFS game ever built up to Underground which SUCKED as did Carbon and I enjoy the exotics. I won't miss them one bit in Motor World. There's enough variety in American made cars to keep us all busy. There may at some point in time further down the road (think years) a call for us to create a euro Motor World or a rice Motor World but this project is sticking to it's American roots.

Yeah, RW. One of the most damaging things to ever hit the the "racing" community was the movie "The fast and furious". It turned a young generation onto imports and doing stupid things to cars like superbug posted in the other thread ( http://www.motorworldonline.net/forum/showthread.php?t=95 ). This basically doomed any hope for future NFS titles, although PU was the only one I enjoyed.
Anyway, I waited to reply to this one because I wanted to see what the response was since lately I have been sort of responding first to posts like this, and didn't want to seem like I was the only one who feels this way.
IMO, imports don't belong in MWO. There are plenty of other games with imports that have extremely limited customization for the muscle cars to sort of force them to fit the mold of only-go-in-straight-lines cars. As it has been mentioned, this was brought up on the old forums and rejected. I think I brought up the idea of allowing imports on another server possibly, for people who want that, but I would guess that would definitely be on the farthest back burner to the devs. I believe MWO is a tribute to the classic muscle cars, and the community and devs don't have time for anything else.

MWO is not strictly a classic muscle car game, it also includes other American classics that are not classified as "muscle". I have no problem with these, but I don't see why new muscle car imitations (2008/9 camaro, challenger, etc) are being included.
If we are trying to stick to a certain genre and exclude things like imports, then exclude everything else that doesn't fit in as well. Not to mention the fact that a new Camaro would totally destroy an older generation one if they were to race.

I'm actually against the new generation american cars being added as well, but on the old forums most of the community either supported the idea or could go either way.

Muscle cars, pony cars, vintage, classic and modern, hot rods, rat rods, sleepers, taildraggers; the general American car culture is our goal. Personally I can hardly wait to see the V8 vega, pinto monza and gremlin in the compact classes. Euro up some other game if you want imports, I say!

Well said RW. There is a spirit and feel to MWO that you just described. Its not just about fast cars but the entire genre, culture and history these cars bring with them.
As for imports, they have thier place, just not in MWO. If you need an import fix, drive a 65 AC cobra which has a british body though no import will deliver what this car will :)
Personally I can hardly wait to see the ........gremlin in the compact classes.
Hugs RW!

for those of you who "just don't get it", the door's on the left, don't let it hit you on yer way out (we don't want any "nasty" personal injury claims). for those of you who DO get it, stick around, things are gonna get interesting. as numerous people have pointed out, this game is NOT all things to all people. this game is meant for those people who look at a muscle car (classic OR modern) and think "that's a CAR". these same people look under the hood and say "hmmm, I wonder what I could do to this car to make it better, faster and cooler?". I don't think the dev's or the mods are gonna be able to explain it any better than what they already have. pardon my "redneck" attitude but this game is not for those who like "lawnmowers on steroids". :D

I have mixed feelings on the issue, being primarily a fan of classic European vehicles myself, more-so than American muscle. However, there's a certain allure to the American muscle car scene that I've always really been drawn too. Whether or not Euro cars are ever introduced into the game really doesn't matter to me though. What does matter to me is a tight-knit community of people who are all here to race/trade/interact with each other and make a game that builds on the strengths of MCO. We could be driving around lawn-tractors for all I care, it's all about the community, the customizing and the racing for me :P

I think that it would be perfectly fine to have imports and euro cars in the game. My dad is a muscle car freak and my brother has had an import before I could drive so I've definitely seen both sides and I honestly don't feel the need to put down either side. I think those who say stupid comments about imports are just ignorant. I have both a 1979 trans am and a 96 Mitsubishi eclipse GSX. The T/A's engine has over 3 times the displacement of my eclipse but it wouldn't even be a race, handling or power, but I love my T/A. I don't agree that the same group of people who put HUGE wheels on there cars are the same group that upgrade imports. There are ricer imports and there are racer imports and I don't even like doing anything to my eclipse unless it helps performance.
Either way, whoever said they wanted a car that was pre-1990 and American, how about a Chrysler conquest? And what makes it so you can never drive the American muscle but can drive imports? Not sure I get that.
Imports don't have a game like MWO and they have tons and tons of different upgrades and customizations to there engines like American muscle cars do. Also you name the game, Motor World Online, maybe it should be Classic American Muscle Cars Online or something then. I don't think your ideas are living up to the name of your game.
Also, I agree with samssonsmith. I loved MCO for the community and how a lot of it was set-up, not for the types of cars it had. Although it did have a lot of great cars.

i think.. and this is my own, personal opinion, and is thus NOT the opinion of MSKen, or RW... but I think, that if there are ANY "imports" i this game, they will be old ones, and prob NOT from an asian based company.
So things along the lines of Ford AUS, Ford UK, Old skool BMW, Jag, etc...
Just my 2 cents...

To include a car selection of anything other than american cars from the start would complicate things quite a bit. Imo, stick to all american for now. We could use the vintage european cars as rares but that would draw away from part of the focus of this game. With european vintages comes the need for parts for all those cars. also, including some will create a lingering and controversial definition of what cars can or cannot be included into this game.

I agree that it would probably be easiest and best to start out with a certain type of car, such as just classic American muscle cars, but I'm not sure why any car should be excluded from the game in the future. Like I said, it is Motor World Online.

I hope MWO sticks with classic American muscle, newer models are cool imo also, I really just hope there are no "riceburners".That was why I could not play Project Torque, that game was on my system for 2 laps of the very first starter car, within 10 minutes of being installed it was uninstalled.
One thing I will say. MWO is not gonna be a "cookie cutter flavor of the month" type of game. One reason this game is being created is for there to be something completely different than every other racing game out there. There are so many games available with Race Inspired Cosmetically Enhanced cars, it's almost ridiculous, not to mention a ton of mods featuring real racing cars going round the same circuits every other game has. We are breaking (or making?) the mold, but doing so can take a lot of time and effort. :)
As for my tracks, I'm not making them to be over challenging, with a lot of unneccessary and crazy turns and twists, I'm trying to make them as real as I can, routewise, so they may seem a bit familiar, like something you may have driven on once. At the same time, I'm not going to Google Earth, and tracing roads either, although I did think of that. :D
Yes, we may be a niche game, but we keep pulling old MCOer's, gearheads and other greasemonkey types into the pit with the rest of us.
Maybe we can get noticed by the "Big Boys" and they will start to make "real" games to compete. :D
Nah.
