I have a question regarding weather or not my computer will be up to the task of playing MWO properly. I'm not an expert on computers so I don't know if mine is ideal or not. The computer I used 9 years ago to play MCO had issues with lag(I think thats what its called) when I was racing. I currently have a emachines T5048 but don't know if it good enough to play the game without issues. Is it good enough or should upgrade?

I would check out the garage viewer that we are gearing up to release for skinning contests. (Yes guys its almost complete) and that will give you some what of an idea of how our software will run on your machine. I would say in your case your video card will be the short end of the deal but who knows, you might surprise me. :)
Moving to the right forum...

well as far as I know, the graphics card was pretty much fried after getting a virus a few months ago. I ended up having to buy a galaxy GeForce 200 series pci express 2.0 graphics card to get it going again.

get urself about 1GB of RAM and call it quits...another 512 stick should do just fine...that 200 series geforce should do a good job with this game
