I was wondering if the engine would show each indivual part when you upgrade/switch components? Seems kind of complicated, but it would be nice to show off a unique engine.

Also a rotating 3d component would be nice to see when your buying parts. It would also be nice to be able to build an engine and sell it.

Just some ideas to think about :)

The interactive part of MCO was what was so great about it, there are plenty of racing games, but having money, auctions and rare parts really made it fun and exciting.

On a side note did anyone here have or see that Mustang pictured on the CD artwork sheet in the game? I believe it was a Boss 429.

As far as I know, there will be a similar system like in MCO. You will be able to sell and trade parts with other players through some transaction interface. It was also discussed on the old forums, and ideas for trade scam protection were also thrown about. Still, you'll need to hear from a dev to find out whether or not it is, for sure, going to be in the game.

It was a Mach 1 according to the paint stripes on the car. Of coarse the hood scoop is aftermarket, because the mach 1's had the shaker scoops. The 429 your thinking of came in the Boss 429. The Mach 1's had either 428's, 390's, of 351's.

(I still have my MCO box, with everything in it... including the reciept when I bought the game)

I like the idea of rotating 3d parts.

I have been with my lady 10 years, When I was playing MCO she played with me. Then the racing got a bit heavier. She gave up but kept rootin me on till I LIVED in front of the computer for months at a time.Flippin women tollerated alot.

Speaking of those engines:

I noticed they look a bit on the rusted side. Is it possible to get clean, new looking parts? I was thinking anything that comes from a junkyard would look like these parts, but anything you got from dealer/catalog/auction-that-wasn't-a-junkyard-find would look shiney and new perhaps? Don't get me wrong though, the worn textures look awesome on them, but I hate to buy a brand new carburetor and it look like I just put it out of an ocean.

Good point, but thereīs still a lot of work to do in that area, we still have to have the Hemi, Cleveland, Caddy 500, a Olds and a Buick engine. Maybe once we got all the brands covered we might work something out.
We were talking, just talking!, about making the parts get dirt and rusted over the time, like the car body.

But our priority right now is to get everything together into something playable ;)

I was going to say something to that effect earlier. But, I figured you would like to say it yourself.

If there was to be even 1 clean, 1 dirty. This is 2x the work load. For there to be a "Dirt-Over-Time" effect, it could require 5 "stages" or more, meaning 5 stages of dirty + 1 stage of clean = 6x the work load. Thats a lot of shader work. And that is just for 1 part. There are sure to be a LOT more than 1 part lol.

Right now they just want to get a working version a "rolling chassis" if you will, to build up from, adding features as they go. Instead of glopping it all together at once and hoping it works.

Besides, have you noticed how GTA4 is like 16GB installed? It's all shaders and textures... Can you imagine the size the game would be if they were to do this? File Size: INSANELY HUGE!!!

Hehe, itīs not rocket science as you imagine, there would be just 2 extra texture masks, one for oil and another for dirt and rust and i will be making those so the same masks fits all the engines parts.
Gta was just got so huge because i wasnīt working there ;)

GTA also had to have a non-loading-screen gameplay to it, which means everything has to be able to swap into memory off the HD quickly. That means very little compression (as decompressing = longer load times = scenes "popping" in). Since the game will only have to load a menu and then just geometry/textures of the track and cars in the game for that particular race, you can have a decent amount of compression of all files and just decompress them at load which means a smaller install footprint.

You should check out the media pulldown menu section on the front page. All but the tracks of MWO have something in them for you to salivate over. That picture came from the screenshots section.

But emery cloth is like... Magic! You can take scorched valves and make them like new, provided they are not totally burnt. Get a little bit extra life out of them. But then, valves are not terribly expensive in the first place so... yeah.

I've only ever used it to clean the mating surfaces between the block and head.

But, the point is. Emery Cloth = Magic! Very pretty grey-ish square-like magic... =P~

hey Zeus, just don't tell him to go get a can of compression. or that a ring-ridge remover isn't what Tiger Woods uses when he goes out on dates. or that auto-body shops put a couple ounces of paint-fade in the spray-gun when they match the paint on older cars...LOL
