Donations

Well....i know its kinda early with everything getting back to the comfy feeling we had though i know it wont take long now.....just wondering when we might be able to open the donations page back up?? Im sure the community will like to help out more to get us further ahead.....i wanna see ken "fall outta his chair again":D

I'm sorta thinkin' that if you made a donation, you know who you paid, and how you paid... (check your receipt) and my way of figgerin' is that anybody who wants to make a donation can go to that same spot, and make that donation to the same beneficiary. I know Ken's pretty busy, and setting up a page to get money given to him isn't on his list of priorities (he hates making it sound like he's "asking" for money).
On the other hand I KNOW there's people out there who want to help him out! You may not see a donations page for a while yet, but once Ken's got some breathing room I'll get a list from him and light the VIP's names up.
I also know that some folks like the contest aspect of it (seeing who's donated the most, etc.) but it's honestly not a contest, nor is donating a necessity. The VIP's will all get some nice in-game perks as Ken's said in the past. I'll set us up a vip social club too.
In the meantime, if y'all who are VIPs want to send me a copy of your receipts from that place you paid at, (send to: roadwezl at yahoo dot com) I'll do what I can about getting your names bolded or colored or something, on the forums if nothing else, ok? If you don't want me to know how much you donated, delete the amount, ok? If you want to make public how much you've donated, then tote it up and let me know! I totally want to recognize those who want to be recognized and I totally don't want to offend anyone who doesn't! You KNOW we vastly appreciate your kindness and support in furthering the project no matter how much or little you donated!
I'm trying to do this without undue bugging of Ken so he can spend what little spare time he has on important stuff... like MWO! :D So I'll expect to see some emails from you VIPs soon hmmm?

I saw something over on another site regarding donations, that would work nicely, I think.

If you donate, say $0-20, you get "Bronze" status. 21-50 silver 51-100 gold 100+ platinum. You get the idea. We could break it up a bit different, and use different terms, like grease monkey, shadetree mechanic, backyard garager(is that even a word?) etc. If a person adds a second or third donation, it could be totaled up to the next status. Sort of like a post count, I guess. We could also have a spot on the home page listing those that donated in which status.
As far as the devs donating, I don't think we need to blow our own horns any more than we already do. Being a dev should be honour enough. (although, if you can afford it, why not?) :cool:

I'll have to check, but I think I still have record of my donation in my PayPal account. Further donations from me may have to wait, seems that I owe the State of Wisconsin $1,070 in taxes for 2007. :mad:

yea if i can buy a shirt that gets me my VIP status i will buy a shirt on the spot.
