New game coming out this summer. The gameplay looks killer... but I cant find anything about it being online at all, or just a single player.

it is going to be online.
It will have lots of cars and they are split up into 3 regions. American, european, and asian.
as far as it looks. It s from the toca race driver series. up to 12 players online. they say it going to be like colin Mcrae's DiRT. not much customization.
another game that will not come close to MWO or MCO. Another racing game to throw onto the pile of modern racing games.

hey Devil, go to www.gamespot.com, there's an updated preview there...just click on PC (up at the top) and then type in the title you want...it's not a perfect site for reviews and previews (sometimes they have REALLY skewwed opinions) and user reviews...

latest news I saw on this they will be including a from of 'ebay motors' in the game for buying and selling cars and parts.
Check it out here (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/23/race-driver-grid-to-feature-ebay-motors-marketplace-in-game/)
Details are still a little vague, but it sounds kinda neat.
eBay motors huh. Its funny how the fail to give a nod to the game they borrowed the idea from, the game to have actual online auctions rather then simulated.
Bah, Humbug. :p
I had RD2 & 3, and they were ok except for the starfarce thing. This just looks like a way to WOW a racing game. There will be someone who will hack it, then start selling virtual cars & parts for real $$. Bah! I say. If anyone comes in here and starts doing that, I'll take my tracks and go home! :playingball:

I saw the new trailer they posted yesterday as well, and it reminded me its being made by codemasters. Thats the same peeps that made Dirt, so Im assuming the online portion is going to be identical... your just racing against a clock and not a real car beside you. This one,... Ill probably pass on.

Dirt is a rally racing game though, which typically is against the clock. But GRID is more street/gt style racing from what I see. I would expect the multi player to be great.

will do :P
the game looks to have enough promising features to warrant a purchase, I just hate how codemasters insists on using Starforce copy protection, it always screws up things on my computer. But assuming the game is good its usually worthwhile to go through the hassles of starforce.

Ill probably get it as well. Dirt is cool, nice graphics and a good game over all, but there still are bugs in it that Codemasters has never addressed. But when your used to EA, its to be expected.

I just tried the demo and the graphics had more and bigger bugs than Starship Troopers!!!! I guess my "old" computer with a E6850, X1950Pro PCI-E and 2gb RAM on XP Pro SP2 is too outdated for that game, although the install just worked without any notice about my system specs. Setting the graphics to absolute minimum made no difference at all.

I downloaded the demo today, and its pretty good. Im impressed with it so far. The online multiplayer, IS ACTUALLY MULTIPLAYER!!! yeah!! you actually see the people your racing against. Sorry, last few racing games I tried your racing the clock and cant see the other guys. Pretty good graphics, and Ill probably buy it. Give the demo a shot if nothing else.

Well after a couple of days, Im hooked. Ive been playing almost nonstop when I get home from work. There are only 2 multiplayer tracks in the demo, and 2 kinds of cars, but damn its fun!!! There are more, but in single player mode. Anyhow, Im definatly getting this one the day it comes out.
GET THE DEMO NOW!!!

Yes sir, you were right. This game puts EA so far behind in my opinion its almost like retribution for taking away MCO. I will say this game far exceeds NFS Pro Street by far.
From what Ive played with the demo so far, there is no tuning on the cars or parts swapping.... its just a race game. So those of you who want to change setups and everything from what I have seen, you cant really. Then again, its only the demo and I havent done much of anything but the multiplayer portion.

I'm pretty sure there will be some customization from articles I've read. Mind you specs and features of games change a lot through the development cycle so who knows really.
ON another note, I downloaded the demo.....
I can play Crysis perfectly fine, but it wont even let me run the game cause my card doesn't support Shader Model 3.0 :(
One of the downsides to using a laptop for gaming :P And here I figured that if I could run Crysis with a playable framerate that I could run anything lol.

Ive been reading they are having a ton of issues with ATi graphics cards. Even guys with higher end ATi based cards are seeing problems, and they are having to roll back drivers and things to get them working properly.
My machine runs it just fine, although Im almost thinking there might be an audio problem with mine because the crowd noise isnt very loud and sometimes surrounding cars dont pick up until they are right on me. Im still running the on-board 7.1 on my P6N SLi, and havent really seen the need to step up to an add-on audio card yet. If I find a you tube video or something of the gameplay and find that I am missing a lot of sounds I might just rob the Audigy card outta my AMD computer to see if it works better. I was really surprised that the auto detect for settings, put everything in the highest setting for my computer. I thought this game would be more like Crysis and would take a $6000 machine to see the highest settings and keep a good frame rate.

I read on the grid forums there you cant tune or modify the cars other then skins. Sounds like they went that way so people who just wanna race, can and still be competitive and not have to know much about cars.
Oh,.. and I pre-ordered it... hahaha. So much for waiting, but I love the demo so much, I cant wait to play the read deal. The game is killer !!!

I didn't get on well with the demo. I really didn't like the way the cars handled and it felt like it was nearly impossible to underbrake or understeer even with all the driving aids off.
Okay, that was on the 360 version (I don't think my PC would like it), but physics won't change across platforms. I thnk I'll be sticking to Forza 2 on 360 and Live For Speed on PC :)
